guy rang today, apparently he bought a bike off ebay , id tested it 6 week ago,
this bike now has offroad tyres fitted and the horn doesnt work, he has had it over a week, and suddenly
he is demanding i rectify the faults, inc fitting new tyres, he hasnt even contacted the seller..............
now when i tested it it must have had a horn, id have noticed, and the tyres definitely were not the ones on the bike now,
i know all about e marks and mst markings.these tyres dont even look like road ones!!!
i know the guy who had it vaguely and i know he swapped wheels/tyres about depending on the use,

its well over 5 week since i tested the bike and the guy surely should have checked the bike over before buying,
i know its not down to me, iv done nothing wrong, but this is the 2nd time this type of things happened, i get no help off the boss, who is more concerned about vosa not coming than anything,
i think, after 20 yrs of testing with no problems,and a good fair reputation, its time to give up,

What's you testing the bike got do to with him not being happy he bought it? Tell him to sod of and make sure you give him a VT17 to complain to VOSA.

He's trying to get some repairs done for free; thinks if he makes a lot of noise you will pay. Why do you suppose he hasn't been in touch with the seller? Meet him head-on with a VT-17.
I had a similar job recently. A trader took a motor I had recently passed to another VTS for another test and they failed it on two ball joints and two wiper blades.
He expected me to pay. No way, I called every ones bluff and invited an appeal. And that was the last I heard.

the plot thickens, he wont say where he has had it to be checked over, whats wrong with it besides(apparently theres other things)
he isnt prepared to let us see it, and hasnt complained in the last 5 week cos his mate who apparently is an mot tester has been in hospital, so he couldnt get details of what was wrong with it.....oh, and he wont talk to me , only the secretary, cos he doesnt want"agro", the guy hasnt even met me................

i think ill just leave him to his own little world, does everyone get idiots like this?

Yep I do, typically un happy with what they bought, get no joy from who ever they bought it off so they blame the MOT Tester.

Happens all the time. Just tell him to read the notes on the VT20 and wave goodbye. Not your problem digger06

Local bike station to us recently had an appeal at another local station and the AE, NT attended, but the biker who paid for the appeal never showed, VOSA apologized to the AE/NT and that was the end of that.

I would have to read up in the Testing Guide, but I do remember that there was a cut off date which after an appeal could not be completed, something like longer than 14 days after the issue of the test certificate, if the appeal was after this cut off date there is no appeal.

Up to three months for corrosion only, anything else is on the day of test, I believe if removed from station it's TA TA and goodbye..
Did have one a few years ago, advised Fiesta rear lower arm bushes were splitting amongst other things, father of presenter took it to FAST FIT (you know who I mean) for service and they ripped it apart, he ranted and raved that my test was to lenient , VE was coming in next day so got Father to bring car in, put it on ramp and asked friendly VE to have a look at FAST FIT (you know the one) inspection sheet and only found advisories I had , one very red faced dick of a Father, who never had the Balls to apologise.

It's not nice having to deal with these situations, luckily they are few and far between, but every now and again they crop up due to ill informed presenters.

As long as you have the confidence to justify your decisions and defend any accusations then for the most part you'll be fine. Even so it isn't nice is it. I'm not sure we get enough protection with these blackmail attempts. Actually we get none lol

There might of been changes but I thought if the presenter was going to appeal then the appeal must be made within 14 days of the issue of the document, then VOSA had to inspect the vehicle within 28 days for mechanical components, and within 3 months for corrosion related issues. I did read somewhere that it had to be the presenter/owner of the vehicle who had to appeal within the first 14 days of the mot documents being issued?

Just imagine an appeal reported some 85 days after the test, a garage could ring the vehicle and completely have a different vehicle for test manufactured in that time, then the NT says I didn't test that vehicle, and VOSA say yeah but its the same number plate and chassis number, properly made to fit

At least if I am right in saying that the appeal must be made within 14 days of the issue of the test document, this puts loads of pressure on anyone who might want to modify the evidence sort of speak?
