I accidentally selected ‘aborted by VE’ instead of selecting ‘Inspection maybe dangerous or cause damage’ when I had a car randomly cut out on me approx 20 min into the test and refuse to crank. I thought it ran out of fuel and spent another 10min trying to start it.

What should I do? Should I contact DVSA first thing tomorrow? This happened on Saturday. I have only been testing a few months and this was a genuine mistake. I would appreciate any advice you guys can give.

They can get a bit humpy about it at site inspections but it’s not a particularly big issue. If you’ve got the time, drop them an email saying you’ve realised your mistake but don’t sweat it too much

They do like to hear about mistakes from the person making them, rather than finding it themselves on a site inspection. To encourage people to contact them, they are not going to take any action on minor details. Do drop them an email, but don't worry about it, you're not going to be in trouble for that.
