DVSA wanting to get the VTS councils up and running again

and most likely increase mine....

Call me a cynic, but a lot depends on the agenda.

Just announced my forthcoming retirement (at Christmas) to the DVSA.

So i'm finishing with the trade once and for all. Started in 1974, 65yrs old now, did my first test in 1980. (not been continuously testing)..... and therefore no more VTS Coun. meetings for me!

I like to think I have left a legacy, and importantly, as it is comparatively recent & I have not put it to the test, please try it.
My request was that: would-be trainee-testers should be allowed to log in to the MTS (without compromising security) and carry out a 'Training Test' which we all know can be quite useful.

My initial e-mail went unanswered, and when I followed it up was told that this is the case. Like I said, i've not tried it but was told......
"If a user has no roles whatsoever they have the green box for 'training' on their profile.

From what i've seen, nobody wants to come into the trade any more so tester-training from 'within' has never been so important.

Me? I've had the best years!

Hooters you see the various articles on garage wire and in the paper s with various quotes a shortage of EV mechanics  there is a shortage of every one most don’t want to do this job anymore they would rather waste 3 years of their lives doing worthless degrees and getting nothing from it even those who qualified as mechanics don’t want to go down the Mot route  anyway enjoy your retirement 

All the very best for your retirement mate, but you will still be poking your nose in on the forum I hope? No pressure of course, but it would be a sad day if we could no longer have your experience on here. Training being what it is, the newer testers need all the help they can get, and I would be lying if I said us older ones don't benefit and learn too!

Sure I'm going to be poking my nose in and seeing what's what.
Never thought I'd be missed.
In hindsight, it's all gone so quickly. Shame really 'cause I'm a freelance tester and it's so easy compared to the grief some of you guys suffer. And, I know how tough it is because I ran my own business for 23yrs.
But you've got to draw the line at some point.

Three months to the day. I guess they must have had a reason to make us think they wanted to talk again (4-2-2 might have gone against us?) but in the end decided that they don't really have to.
