Incorrect vehicle details

So youve tested a vehicle that wasnt in for an mot? Or have you entered the details of another car thats not there?

Inform DVSA by e-mail or your local VE dont ignore it hoping it will go away give them all the info of how it came about.

Depends how lucky you are. If they are really busy you may hear nothing more. Disciplinary cases have to be brought in a reasonable timeframe.

Otherwise, likely an interview and possibly disciplinary. Unlikely to be cessation as you reported it.

Scenario is this a bit long winded but will try

Pulled a regular customers car in that pay for a pre mot so can do work first if need be as they are a trader dealing with high end cars and don’t want fails on them and they do genuinely do any potential fails or advisory work. got the vehicle in the mot bay and got the correct reg and chassis number from the vehicle . Gone in office to print a job sheet out . That’s when I’ve made the mistake got the last digit wrong as printing the job sheet out changed last digit from a V to an N and not realised as it was same make and model . Done the pre mot inspection no faults found so proceeded to log on for mot . And that’s where I’ve made my major f##k up . I’ve logged the vehicle on for mot off the job card rather than what I should have done and logged on from my written details. And obviously the reg and chassis number on the job sheet were both incorrect as I’ve put the wrong reg in and it’s matched it to its own chassis number for the printout

I’ve realised the mistake the next day pulled the car back and tested under the correct details then informed dvsa of my mistake by phone and email

It may be just me who's confused, but the system doesn't match a reg number to a chassis number. If you get one digit out on the reg, but put the chassis number in correctly, it will come back with no vehicles found, alerting you to a problem. Have I misunderstood something?

Yes that’s correct as I entered the incorrect reg and incorrect chassis number as I took the details off my job card like an idiot
