Had one in today Ford fiesta steel wheel all 4 nuts wrong way around vehicle had a 2nd hand tyre fitted the previous day I would not use that garage in town that fitted it because I wouldn't trust them to change the wheels on a children's skate board censoredsign

I used to get this a lot when I was servicing caravans. If it was an older person I used to ask if they worked for the post office driving morris 1000 1/4 ton vans.
Most times they said they had and how did I know. It was because post office vans had double taper wheel nuts and no hub caps so that's what they saw so naturally assumed that the taper went to the outside.

The beatings will continue until moral improves !

Over the years I've done a few days at our local secondary school running a car maintenance class, very basic stuff but stressing the point of a "little knowledge can be dangerous" and I'm sad to say the majority of lads let the side down.

The lads assumed they knew a bit and cracked on whereas the girls assumed they knew nothing and asked before doing anything. It was always the girls that noticed the wheel nuts were different and asked which way round they went and why.
