Using proper English like wot I do

I thought we were told not to use manual advisories unless we could not find a written advisory that already covered the example needed!

But you said "Adjustment or repair" in your first post! Does that not cover both areas?

You couldn't of expected any different could you? Nobody in DVSA would know what a combination spanner is! Show then a whitworth box spanner and you might get results, along with an Hillman IMP   

I merely put 'little reserve travel on park brake lever'. The advisory is what I have observed during the test. There is no need to comment on what might be causing it or what action is needed.

I try hard to use 'their' advisories and often have to 'embelish' them in the name of clarity. Sometimes you have no choice but to go 'free-text' and as long as you are word-perfect, I don't see the problem. Certainly, the courts will look for clarity in what is said, just don't get it wrong!

So when a VE comes round the stations and asks why we don't use their worded advisories completely, what is going to be our agreed reply to their question?

Yes we do however I've left my old ticket on the seat do you need that ? If I've never tested it before  I like to read previous ones 

In my opinion, their obsession with using their prescribed advisories is to unify testing standards across test stations. This can never happen whist there are: different motor vehicles used by different people over varying mileages and varying conditions which are appraised by testers who (necessarily) come to their decisions using, when required, subjective judgements.

To believe it is simpler than that is to show inexperience and/or ignorance.
Conveying a clear message to a) the office staff, and b) the customer is essential. The fault lies with the DVSA, it’s their system, inadequately engineered.

Whilst I’m on my soap-box, earlier this week (forget which day), I started my first test at just gone 07:00hrs. Upon logging out, up came their pop-up message asking ‘how I found MTS today’. Previously when seeing this, my answer was along the lines of “ask me at the end of a full day.....” This time, I made a reference to their never acknowledging feedback (so why should I bother).

When I’ve previously offered feedback e.g. on the ’blog’ I’ve been told ‘you don’t have to agree with it, just do it’. Well that’s o.k. I know where I stand, just stop asking for my opinion.

That's because there aren't any now. I still use it because in my opinion it expresses simply and clearly, the problem found.
