hi all i would like to become a mot tester ive done recovery work and last 4 years i have done vehicle dismantling so i dont have any qualifications and was told i cooud do a ntta is this correct and was told it is a hard test with a low pass rate . can any one advise me now im out of work i think its the right time.

Hi martin and welcome to the forum

To become an MOT Tester, VOSA stipulate that you must have at least 4 years motor trade experience in the servicing sector, which in fairness it sounds like you have. Unfortunately the NTTA exam has a 68% failure rate and you have limited attempts. The other route is to become ATA accredited which is soon to be the preferred route by VOSA. I work for a company called Premier MOT training, we have several options that you can consider from NTTA training to help you to pass through to a complete package where we sponsor you as a MOT testing station (you need a Vehicle Testing Station to sponsor you to apply to be a tester)
Without trying to sound like I'm selling you stuff, take a look at our website www.premiermot.com and there is loads of information that might help you. There is also some NTTA sample questions that you can try free of charge to see how you think you might fair. If you try them put your region location as West Midlands, this will come straight to me so that I can then advise you on your weeknesses.
