most cars have a rev counter, but yes, ive had some cars revving to 22000 rpm!!! try putting lights on, so there is a current draw sometimes helps.

back in the early 80s the old type mazda rotarys were a bit of a favourite of mine,you could buy them for peanuts when the rotor tips started going,the favourite local conversions being 1.9-2.4 variants of the old mki cavalier/manta gte lumps.i would generally drive em to death to make sure the old rotary was completely dead first tho.the last one I did I figured out the rev limiter consisted of the sprung loaded rotor arm that some of you will remember from xr3is etc,a simple common or garden bosch rotor fitted just fine and I decided to see how far it would rev,pulled onto the m1 at j11,gave it beans in second.the noise was undescribable.i lost my bottle at about 85-90.still don't know how far it went but the 9k tacho was jammed solid,looked behind me.smoke?i couldn't see the fooking motorway or the mate who was supposed to be following for when it went bang.those were the days...

class.used to do model aircraft myself but we are talking car rpms.didnt they stick a turbine in a rover or some yank job?now THATS gonna be rpm!those things run 40-50k plus
