Changes in MOT Vehicle Class definitions

Class 4 goods vehicles up to 3000 kg an Class 7 both fall under N1.

I wonder how the current Class 4/7 Conditions of Appointment will be integrated ?

Well that's made it a lot clearer having read the link ........ somebody needs punching in the head repeatedly !!!

Going back a while, one of the considerations was 'if it fits in your (Class 4) bay and on your equipment you will be able to test it' (if it's currently a Class 7 that is).
Which is all fine, if a little unfair, on those that previously made any extra investment into the testing of sevens.
This was pretty much a throw-away comment at the time but I've seen stuff like this go straight into policy in the hope that no one would notice? Perhaps.

I'm sure it came up in a round of seminars a few years back.

I suppose it'll make up for the lost vehicles we all suffered when Class VII was invented originally unless huge expense incurred to do them.

how did you lose vehicles?from memory anything over about 2-2.5 ton empty had to be plated by the ministry pre class 7(with a few exceptions),do you not remember all the swb 1600 petrol trannys that bt/gas/electric used to use?that was why,they were below the threshold and therefore less hassle to test and sell and the average test bay wouldn't have accommodated the plated ones anyway,its one of the reasons they brought it in in the first place,they didn't wanna be testing pikey trannys any more than us class 7 guys do.a little odd that our dual purpose chappys aint goods vehicles either,most other countries don't differentiate them the way we do.any bets on class five and a half?

most folks didn't have the extra full fat test bay and struggled to fit the baby trannys on in most cases let alone twin wheelers,when class 7 came in we fitted a bay for em(now too small for a lotta the modern stuff)
