Your authorisation to test will be removed after 6 months usually. A demonstration test would be required to regain your authorisation thereafter. You need not be QC'd in that 6 months if you are not testing or if you are the Sole tester at a VTS but is best practise to be QC'd monthly

Don't leave returning to testing for long.
As from April next year prolonged absence from testing won't just be a demo test to reinstate testing rights.
If a tester is up to the required standard for qualifications and experience at present as a tester will need to complete the weeks training course and exam from a training body and the demo test via dvsa before testing rights are reinstated.
If a tester don't have the required qualifications ,NVQ for example the tester will need to gain one also.in other words start from the bottom irrespective of how long the tester has been testing .

That's what's in the pipeline so I've been informed
