new headlamp technology - but how will it be MOT Tested?

I tested a Megane ( ? ) yesterday . When I was running through the interior controls I flicked it onto full beam . The light pattern on the wall in front of the ramp turned from the usual standard kick-up pattern to two arches of light . Forget HID . These are SAF ( Surprised As Feck ) Simple things please simple minds . It made me smile . .

Happy headlights . I might buy one just for the lights .

Human eye is the weakest link so dazzle the f**k out of oncoming cars so they can't see a bloody thing !!!

Just got back from a CPD training evening, Hella Gutmann talk about all the new ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist Systems).

This included details about the new Matrix lighting systems, and Mot Testing them will be the least of our worry. It was explaind that the cameras would need a calibration if any steering or suspension work is carried out to ensure that the appropiate light that is cancelled matches where the oncoming vehicle actually is.

There were some VW dealer lads there tonight who are currently charging around £400+vat to calibrate the cameras and radars in some of thier top of the range models. They are also printing and logging a certificate of calibration to ensure liability is removed from them should there be a problem with systems such as lane assist and braking assistance etc.

Also watched several videos of self parking vehicles, convoys of driverless cars and an assortment of other new technology systems.

I came away thinking - thank god i will be retiring soon, but will it be soon enough?
