Email i received from DVSA Monday 10th August; Reminder: Your switchover date for the new MOT testing service

17 August 2015

You must stop using your VTS device / MOT Comp system by 6pm on 16 August 2015.

You can start using the new MOT testing service from 8am on 17 August 2015.

By then your:

• VTS device will be turned off and you won't be able to use it

• existing slots will be moved to the new service and any cash balances converted - they'll be rounded up to the nearest slot and added to your new AE slot account

Please ensure all fallback tests have been verified before your switchover date. This will make sure your VTS is not suspended in the new service.

What you need to do now

You need to read the following guides before your switchover date and to find out more about using the new MOT testing service:

• Move to the new MOT testing service

• Use the new MOT testing service


It’s your responsibility to tell everyone at your VTS to claim their account or they won’t be able to test after switchover - DVSA won't be emailing all your staff.

Help and support

If you have any technical problems using the new service you must contact our Business Service Desk (BSD).

Don’t contact your area office, customer service centre or the Atos helpdesk as they will not be able to help you.

Using the new MOT testing service

Please share this information with your testers and any other staff. This will help you to start using the new MOT testing service when you switchover.

If you have more than one site listed against your AE number, please note that all your sites will switch over to the new MOT testing service at the same time.

Please make sure all your fallback tests have been verified before you switchover to make sure your VTS is not suspended in the new service.

When you start using the new service you may notice a few things:

• the VT40 and vehicle specific information (VSI) have been removed

• emergency testing has been replaced by contingency testing- make sure you print off a supply of contingency testing documents

• the way to buy slots has changed

Temporary workarounds

When you go live on the new MOT testing service you may also have some problems with the following:.

• resetting your password or PIN

• issuing duplicate certificates

• carrying out retests

• finding contingency testing codes

• contingency testing times

• buying slots

• finding non-component advisories

• seeing odometer readings

• text size on certificates

Other VSI

Other VSI won’t be presented as a result of feedback DVSA received from the MOT trade which told us:



they didn’t use it

it wasn’t reliable

they preferred to use other data services

Instead, NTs should refer to manufacturer or other reliable data if information is required on things like:



anti-lock braking systems

electronic parking brake systems

WAS ANYONE ASKED ie phoned, emailed or otherwise contacted regarding the above???

I'd like to see the vt29 printout with all vehicle details like the Vt40. Where's the dam mileage box anyways. I'm going to be lost without it come Thursday!
