The following information has been provided by DVSA to help & assist AE's & NT's with Comp 2 MOT Testing.

General guidance on contingency testing

Please be aware that you only need to use contingency testing if the MOT testing service is unavailable.

As a tester, you should always first check to see if the service is working before reverting to contingency testing procedures.

We'd also ask that you try and spread out entering their contingency test results throughout the day as this will help the service’s overall performance.

Find your contingency testing (CT) code on GOV.UK

Following feedback and for a temporary period, we'll be publishing each day's contingency testing (CT) code the GOV.UK website under the following link:

MOT testing service: contingency testing - bit.ly/mot-contingency

Until further notice, each day's code will be published at 6am on the above link for that particular day and updated with the next day's link the following day.

The only exception will be this weekend when Saturday's published code will last all weekend as we're carrying out some important work to help improve the performance issues you may have experienced.

Find your contingency testing (CT) code on email

We'll also be emailing each day's code your registered MOT testing service email address at 6am each day until further notice as a back up to the above. So please check email for this code if you have any trouble using the service.

Find your contingency testing (CT) code over the phone

The MOT testing service desk will also be issuing the latest code on it's recorded messaging system each day so you can check there as well by calling 0330 123 5654.
