So, a Dodge Ram is brought for test, I tell the owner I don't think I can test it (Class 4 site only) as it would be over 3 tonne, but it was an earlier model so thought I'd check the weight in the B post and it says 2850kg.

I log it on for a test and despite being a bit bulky I managed to test everything including an RBT which was pretty much at the limit my gauges would go to

So i register the test results and the last thing I do is brake readings, its then I notice the weight is down as 3700kg.

I put the results in and it issued a pass

So... what are your thoughts on this scenario?

No upper weight limit for class 4. It being a 4x4 would also make it dual purpose so it would still come under the class 4 bracket.

I would like a bit info regards the model to be 100%
The reason(s) being i am not !!the weights on the vin plate are in ILBS not KG
Not all ram pick ups have 4 wheel drive
The curb/unladen weight of these trucks are about what you mention and are not GVW
The ULW of this US truks on stamped on the VIN
If the unladen weight is known which is with these vehicles testing as a duel purpose is not possible
Possibly class 7 depending on which one you've had presented

I might not be the best,but i was always in the top one

As nitros44 point's out some are class4 some are not there should perhaps have been a warning if it was tested and as a different class.
Çompared to the giant issue's around comp2 it may well be a long time before anyone picks it up, if ever

This is a Dodge Ram

We were asked to test one a couple of years ago and I looked into it at the time (as usual, things may have changed since then). Being a pick-up made things a bit more different.

Gross weight was (if memory serves) 7000lbs (twin wheels). It was not a class 4. It was not a class 7. It was a HGV and we couldn't test it.

its not as clear cut as that though is it, pretty sure that most of the pickups now are over 3000kg, why can`t the system just show what class a vehicle comes under when trying to register the thing, DVSA get far more information regarding a vehicle when its registered with them the first time, look at the problems with standard cars when trying to identify exactly which model it was from the lists on the old system

GVW in excess of 3500kg rules it out as a Class 7. It has load carrying capacity so it should be an HGV test.
