Rear top strut mountings

But,is it a coil spring mounting ?

I was wondering if this was going to be a trick question as there is no RfR if it's solely a shock (i.e. no spring included as in a MacPherson strut) mounting. It got missed off the January 2012 update on MoI  2.4.G.1

In the past I've bundled shock mountings with that lot. They were told years ago about it but deaf ears yet again.

It's not a macpherson strut but I would still class the corroded part as a spring mounting.

"Suspension component mounting excessively corroded"?I used that to fail an Escort van a while back with a rear damper hanging on a few strands of rust (leaf spring so well clear of spring mounts)

It fails under a Spring mounting, 2.4 Suspension - General - RfR 3 (c) "A coil spring mounting; seriously weakened by damage or corrosion".

The mounting in this case is attached to the shocker

It would be if there was a reason for rejection for it

If it's not a coil spring mounting then what is it? I would say if that part wasn't there then the coil spring wouldn't be able to be mounted.

Whats wrong with "2.4.3. Deliberate modification which significantly reduces the original strength, excessive corrosion, severe distortion, a fracture or an inadequate repair of a load bearing member or its supporting structure or supporting panelling within 30cm of any sub-frame, spring or a suspension component mounting, that is, within a ‘prescribed area" ?

I don't know the answer but as baz has said there is no reason for rejection ,(correct me if I am wrong baz)

2.4.3.c section in the manual from what I can remember deals with coil spring mountings on older vehicles and was never addressed to be removed from the manual.
The component is totally knackard but trying to bolt on a rfr (pun intended) if it don't exist needs looking at.
