Used to. I got fed up arguing over prices, "letting things go" on tests, lateness/lack of payment, etc, etc.



Yes, no.



Let me put it this way, now I've seen first hand what the owners and/or drivers standards are (even lower than MOT) I don't use them.


The same goes for the vast majority of stretched limos, wedding cars (not that I'd be using them again after 3 ex-wives) and their ilk.

I've issued a lot of prohibition notices to taxi drivers !

taxi driver are a pain i chased them years ago they want it done strait away but dont want to pay for it they just arent worth the bother

As if by magic, our local rag, The Leicester Mercury, featured today, an item entitled…….. ‘Taxis vanish as spot checks begin’ (page 3) I kid you not. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination., an incredible co-incidence.

I have for some time now had three pet hates in life:

1. Magpies (they eat the song birds if they have not already eaten their eggs.
2. Dandelions (they are bathplugs to get rid of)
3. (you are ahead of me now aren’t you) They drive like they have absolute impunity from the rules of the road by which the rest of us are forced to abide. And, as some of you have said in other words, are not worth our time.

To be fair, I had three private hire drivers that were really conscientious regarding the maintenance of their cabs. Some though were outrageous on the limits to which they pushed their (passenger carrying) vehicles.
I think the worst I ever had was one brought to me with brake noise. The pad-backing (yes, backing) had dropped out of the caliper. Talk about taking the P155.

Back in the early nineties, I had the unpleasant experience of regular taxi rides to hospital three times a week (following a motor cycle accident) for six months. Having been a pro-road tester/QC for a main dealer prior to that, I found it difficult not to be analysing every little noise that manifested itself during said journeys. Except most were not ‘little’

Do cab drivers have to be under 4 foot, it's surprising when you see one coming towards ya that all you can see is a forehead until they get closer and see its s little bloke, it's not that they are a law to they own, they just can't see ya over the bonnet or in the mirrors.
