Sometimes they forget to put it on the VOSA website. I've had to nudge their webmaster a few time in the past.

What happens if you cant read mileage from past mot and put down mileage not displayed don't you guys think this should be a fail item if you mileage wont display or speedo doesn't work ? i know its all to do with stopping clocking but if we cant record it correctly because its not displayed or not working seem to defeat the object

The thing is, it's not illegal to change the mileage on a car. You can buy a new speedo because the old one broke, to change from KM to miles or fit a dash from a higher spec car that has a different mileage. It's only when you sell the car and claim or imply that the mileage is correct that an offense is committed. This might affect the dodgy traders but shouldn't be a problem for Joe Public.

I haven't seen more than about two or three cars in the last 5 years with an odo I couldn't read, and there aren't anywhere near as many cars in the trade as in public ownership so this is an honorable concept, that seems to be causing more concerns than it should.

Just type in the mileage you can see, and don't worry about the implications.
