Calling out for feedback on classic vehicle MOT consultation

If you can please provide photographs of any vehicle first used between 1960 and 1984 that you test and see something that could help the case against bringing this rule in. Either send them to DfT or to me (baz657 'at' gmail 'dot' com) with vehicle details (inc test number).

Absolutely. I've just tested a 20 year old landrover discovery, and it was of course a mess. This thread just reminds me that the first discoverys will be nearly thirty years old. Most vintage and veteran cars are well looked after by owners who look on them as an investment, and keep them well above the minimum condition that the MOT requires. We will see very few problems resulting in them being exempt from MOT. Motorists who own an old shed they don't want to spend money on, and only see the MOT as a hoop they need to jump through to get their road tax, will welcome the chance not to bother with it any more.
It just beggars belief that idiots in an office somewhere can be in charge of something as important as road safety. I don't mean DVSA of course, we all know the wealth of experience that sits at all levels right to the top there, but then their hands get tied and they are as helpless as we are when some muppet politician comes up with a hare brained scheme like this to win public support. Time to stop ranting here and start another email to the MP methinks. As many as we can guys, it helped the last time 4-4-2 raised its ugly head, it can't hurt to try again.
