i have a crypton machine the same thing £400 pound for a update for next year what a rip off [does vosa check if you have the up date or not ] i have never had then ask me to see the update our anything like that they never go near the emission tester you now there are people out there who do not update there machine

My machine was calibrated yesterday. I was talking to the engineer (who agrees it's a rip off) and he doesn't think he'll have the database to install until October at the earliest.

Yes. Print the vehicle specific emission data on the VT40. Put it on there instead of the ABS light sequence as we don't need that one now.

Link the VTS to the EGA by smart card? perhaps ??

DVSA should be doing ALL THEY CAN in assisting VTS's to reduce costs. By Comp-2 they will have shifted all the running costs on to us!
They are thoroughly committed in reducing costs to the vehicle owners along with capping test fees but expect us to fend for ourselves with our hands tied behind our backs.

At a Council meeting some time ago I suggested an area of the test that ought to be looked at which could have resulted in an increase in failures (the more items you check, the greater chance of a failure). In the blink of an eye and without any reasonable consideration or debate, the VOSA representitve said........ "for gods sake, we're trying to reduce the failure rate, not increase it".

What does that tell the test stations about DVSA attitude towards:-

a) It's council members?

b) Putting ideas forward for improving testing?

What are the updates on the brake roller's that are worth 3grand?
