Here is the idea. We all put together the wording for an information leaflet that can be handed out to every customer, half A4 size. To get the ball rolling maybe things like...

valid on day of test
we can only test what we see
minimum standards
internet links for more information
etc

It would be far better if approved so any wording would have to be submitted.

What should be included and how should it be worded?

Maybee a note to say that "please check your details, mistakes can only be rectified within x days"

Since the multiple mileage went ahead, I hit the line on the vt20 saying check your details with a highlighter to bring it to their attention, but the addition of the 'x' number of days to rectify wouid be a good idea.

How about "Your mot cert is not a substitute for routine servicing or maintenance" or "The mot inspection is supplementary to routine servicing" and if you wanted a little promotion "Please ask if you have any servicing requirements"

Yes, You do stand more chance of passing if you check the oil and coolant, top up the washers, blow up the tyres and do a simple lights check.

I am getting quite slick with the answer to "Oh you could have just done that, it would hardly take you a couple of minutes"

"yes sir, and you've owned it a lot longer than the 45minutes I've been testing it, it would have only taken you a couple of minutes as well"

Also. It doesn't matter if that number plate passed the last 6 tests, the spacing is incorrect and it shouldn't have passed and it isn't going to pass here. Meaning we have to do the job properly, whatever has happened in the past
