So you want to be a tester?

A couple of years ago I helped a lad at work to progress to an NT, here are some of the questions that I set to help him study the manual. For non testers please use the manuals, link provided, to find the answers, most experienced NT's should be able to work though these in a few minutes

Using information available to you, please answer all the following questions as pass, pass and advise, fail abandon, abort, refuse to test, true or false or yes or no. Use of a calculator may be required.
All these questions relate to class 1V and 11V (4 and 7) only.

1. A car is presented for test with defective boot lock mechanism, making it impossible to open the tailgate. The car is a Ford KA.
2. A car is fitted with a centre high level brake light as a “factory fit”. The lamp does not work, the presenter is not available to answer any questions.
3. While testing a van you see a large fuel leak. What do you do?
4. You see a brake pedal rubber is worn smooth, but is still secure and complete?
5. You see a clutch pedal rubber is missing what do you do?
6. You find that the cat converter is missing on a spark ignition vehicle, but meets the pass criteria on the emissions test.
7. You fail a diesel car on a blowing exhaust system. Is a second emission test required on re-test?
8. A car is presented with a 185 r 14 tyre on the nearside front and 185/80 r 14 on the offside front.
9. An exhaust system has 5 rubber mountings and 1 of them is missing, the system as a whole is supported.
10. A car is fitted with headlamp masks.
11. A car has reflective tape as a replacement for rear reflectors, is this acceptable?
12. A car is presented with the front number plate attached to the passenger sun visor, is that acceptable?
13. An opaque sunstrip is fitted to the top of the windscreen, entering the area of the screen swept by the wipers by more than 40mm.
14. A Land Rover is presented with the spare wheel fastened to the bonnet, clearly affecting the driver’s view of the road ahead.
15. An externally mounted spare wheel is insecure.
16. A rear seat cannot be secured in an upright position
17. A car is presented with two damaged seatbelts in the rear, but the seats have been removed.
18. A front passenger door can only be opened from the inside.
19. A car running on lpg does not require an emissions test of any kind.
20. A hybrid car, Toyota Prius for example, does not require an emissions test of any kind.
21. A car has a hole in the rear wing caused by corrosion large enough for a toddler to insert a finger, not affecting any prescribed area.
22. An NT has a 28 day driving ban, can he test while banned?
23. The power steering belt has snapped on a car presented for test pass or fail?
24. A van with a GVM of 3020kg is presented at a class 1V VTS, what do you do?
25. A 1998 Range Rover with a GVM of 2900kg is tested. Are the emissions tested as a “passenger car”?
26. A power steering box has a slight seepage of fluid.
27. A brake calliper has a slight seepage of fluid.
28. A Ford Fiesta has body mountings, true or false?
29. An unladen van with a GVM of 3250kg gives the following brake efforts for the service brake O/S/F 280kg locked N/S/F 320 kg locked O/S/R 120kg not locked N/S/R 150kg not locked. The park brake records 210kg locked and 190kg locked. The overall result is?
30. You see that the oil pressure warning light stays on with the engine running. The oil level is correct?
31. The ABS warning light follows the correct sequence, but you see that the ABS components are disconnected, and cannot function.
32. A tipper body has a mounting missing; all the other mountings are in good order.
33. A car has green number plate lamps?
34. A Fiat Punto with a BTW of 950kg gives the following brake efforts N/S/F 200kg locked O/S/F 190kg locked O/S/R 45kg not locked N/S/R 50kg not locked. Both parking brakes lock at 150kg effort.
35. A front bumper has been removed, but the bumper mountings have not and protrude from the front of the car. They have sharp edges.
36. A rear shock absorber has no leaks, is secure but does not function
37. A kit car first used in 2009 has an engine manufactured in 1985, and has certification to prove it. Are the emissions tested at the 2009 limit?
38. When asked the presenter of a 15 year old diesel engine car with 150000 miles recorded says that it has never had the cam belt changed, on a make/model you know should be changed at 5 years 80000 miles, what do you do?
39. A large Ford Transit is presented for test at a class 1V VTS and the vin plate has been removed. The van will fit on your lift or pit.
40. Your RBT breaks down at 8.45 a.m and you have 5 testes booked for that day. Can you test for the rest of the day?
41. Your EGA breaks down, can you perform any more diesel engine tests
42. Your VTS device has been stolen overnight, can you continue testing?
43. Are you permitted to ask for payment in advance?
44. You see that a road wheel has been repaired by welding pass or fail?
45. A suspension arm that is made from a one piece pressing has been repaired by welding, pass or fail?
46. A rear position lamp is illuminated by 3 bulbs, 1 does not work, pass or fail?
47. Is this the definition of a Quadricycle? Four wheeled vehicle with a max ULW of 400kg (550kg for a goods vehicle) with a max net power of 15KW. Is it a class 1V?
48. Is it permitted to do a RBT before the underside is inspected?
49. During a retest on a defective tyre, you see that a wheel nut is missing?
50. During a test the mobile phone in your pocket rings, do you answer?
