It's only been like that for 6 months!

I did a big V8 Merc yesterday. 285/35r18s on the rear, 245/40r18 on the offside front, 225/40r18 on the nearside front. All four Nexens worn to zero on the inside edges, all tyres below 16PSI. So its a top of the range luxury high-performance estate, running on the nastiest tyres I've ever driven on, and obviously not cared for properly. So the lady presenter throws a tantrum, "Those tyres have been on the car for three years!!!" and out of the glove box she produces receipts for
-Nov 2010, local independent, MOT fail on four tyres, fitted four Nexens,
-Nov 2011. Local fastfit, MOT pass, no advisories.
-Oct 2012, Another local independent, MOT pass and advise tyres worn low on edges.

So how come I failed it? (And advised the other three as smooth on inside edges)My boss told her we do the job right. I told he I just look at what's in front of me, and apply the rules as I see fit, and I can't tell her why it passed the last three years, because I wasn't there.

And then it comes back for retest, with a part-worn 245 in place of the 225, fitted by the outfit that put the wrong one on in the first place, with an invoice for £50.

So I get it in the neck for failing odd size tyres on one axle, and the guy who fitted the wrong tyres and passed the wrong tyres gets another £50 sale. Thank god I've got a week off now!
