Possible change to diesel emission testing?

My findings on this subject are slightly different than some views above, vehicles like BMW, Mercedes don't seem to have problems meeting the limits, but Peugeot, Citroen and Renault are a different story, not all but some of them do really struggle to meet the new 1.5 limit. This could be build up in the system but not seen at the tailpipe, visually being very clean so visual only would suggest that nothing is there to comment on, but metered is a different story.

It would be better (not cost wise) if VOSA introduced a hand held scan tool for the 16 PIN socket to take a live data reading for emissions tests and then let us plug into the printer to produce a printout of results, that way no revving of the engine so less likely to be involved with unnecessary damage, no need for exhaust emissions extractors in the test bay, and electronic results are almost immediate, Health and Safety much better because not particulate matter flying around the atmosphere in or around the test bay area.

OK for VOSA their Test sites have very long, wide open areas to test in, we have small test bays that can fit a car in, and in a lot of cases not even wide enough to fully open a door normally because the ramp is in the corner of a building?
