As long as it takes to recheck the failures Gaz and any advisories issued. No set time, but it has to be realistic. You couldn't re-test 5 or 6 corrosion fails in 4 mins just like it wouldn't take 20 mins to retest wipers or bulbs...

If it's a fastrack, it takes as long as you're logged on after checking the failure items. If it's a full retest (including printing off another VT40) as long as it takes. For me normally around 10 minutes.


Most definitely.  Obviously you'd have to if the fail was for brake performance but  if there is a fail or an advisory on any braking component you should always carry out another brake test.


If it's a retest it doesn't matter if you carried out the work yourself or not - you have to recheck the items independently from carrying out the repairs. Same goes for PRS. For example, you would not be able to legally carry out a retest that requires an underneath inspection on your repair ramp if it's not your designated test ramp.

You would still have to go through the screens to get to printing it out, but instead of pressing F2 to print you can press F12 to cancel print. Saying that, it always looks better if you get a visit for any reason, or even an appeal test, to have the extra printout. For example, the brake readings are rarely exactly the same on retest.

One extra printed sheet could save you from an embarrassing question and answers session.

Any brake fail has to be brake tested, even something as stupid as an ABS light which always seems a bit stupid. This is because, unless you have done the job yourself you can't tell what the other idiot screwed up when he "repaired" it.

I think you can get away with brake lights though ;-)

Just skimmed through the thread again and noticed that Baz does a "Full retest in about 10 minutes" Full retests usually take me 45 mins, partial retests take ten or fifteen, and a fast-track shows up as zero minutes as the check is done before you log on

We always put left VTS in that case. If it hasn't left the workshops, apart from a road test or two, we put repaired at VTS.
