Issues with cherished plates again?

Any idea if cherished plates are causing problems at the minute? I have a vehicle tested a week ago that I now cannot find any trace of test on, apart from our inspection sheet from time of test.

Background: we do MOT reminders. I have just been to enter one onto my database, needed to check I'd read the reg correctly as one character was unclear. Easiest way so I don't have to move myself off my comfy chair is usually straight to the Tax/MOT expiry date website. No match. 
Checked MOT history website - no match. 
Looked back over the inspection sheets and found I had read it correctly. Concerned at the lack of info on publicly viewed websites I logged in to Comp2 to ask for a duplicate. No match. Tried to register vehicle for new test - no match (looked up as if for test with no intention of actually registering it! Just to see if the info matched a vehicle). As far as any databases are concerned, this vehicle doesn't exist. I have used the printed info from the inspection sheet for reg and VIN, printed last Monday afternoon. 

Now, even if in the week since the customer came in for test they had applied to change the plates, there would still be a match found somewhere, right?  It had the current plates on it last year as I have also since found it in the reminder sheet from last year.
