I did an 89 Defender truck-cab last week, failed on a track-rod end and a few advisories, all underneath. I know I entered "2 passenger seats" at the original test, and the truck bed was completely empty, with new checkerplate panels over the wheelboxes.
Today it came back for retest. To start with Boss asked me to re-test it out on the forecourt but I wasn't having that, and while I was trying log off the previous test he brought it in to the bay, and lifted it on the ramp. I checked the advisories and the fail, all ok, so I dropped it half-way down, got the mileage and processed a fast track. When the computer finally decided to give me a cert I dropped the car back on the deck, jumped in, looked over shoulder to reverse out and "Oh F***" In the last few days the owner has fitted a pair of bucket seats on the wheelboxes facing the centre and a rack for carrying shotguns. Not a seatbelt in sight. Still the ticket's printed now so it's too late to worry about picking through the seat belt requirements charts

Side facing seats don't require seat belts anyway,there is no requirement to go looking for seats that have been added,you did not notice that seats had been fitted until after the test was finished also,the only down side would be a missing advisory.
