Getting My Manager to have manager status on his smart card!

First of all he will have to allow a new role to be assigned. So with his card logged in go to Other functions - administration - people and roles - permit new user role and get him to allow.

Take his card out and log yourself in. You then follow the first 3 steps but then go to Update user role (site). It'll ask you for his user ID and the VTS number and connect up. You'll then see a list of abilities you're able to add for him. Add what you want and confirm. Once that's been updated, take your card out and he has to put his back in and confirm that he is willing to accept the new roles you've added for him. That's it.

It's ages since I changed anyone over, but the list of options is on one side and you have to add it to the other. Site manager is one of them. Another option is AEDM (DM stands for Designated Manager) which is I guess a grade higher than site manager and would allow him to do a bit more on the admin side (but would make him responsible for everything including disciplinary matters in your absence).

I know who it is but have never spoke to him, As far as im aware because it has taken my boss months and months to sort out a smart card he will get a bollocking if he rings the company mot manager and asks to receive Site manager role, Makes sense that is what should happen but im afraid he will have to bite the bullet and ring him personally, (my manager is a dick! lol) So nothing I can do. No im not AE, he just has basic admin roles,he is not a tester, But as manager he should have site manager status and should be doing paperwork to make sure im not cheating the system and doing dodgy MOT's, He was shouted at down the phone by the company mot scheme manager when he found out my manager didnt have a smart card so think he is scared of ringing him again, but its out of my hands. Next time I might be out of the country when he rings me.
