Employment

So I went into work on Thursday having had Wednesday off. My colleague having been employed there 23 years was asked Wednesday morning to fit a timing chain to a Skoda. He point blank told the boss he was not doing it. The boss said well you might as well go home then, so he packed up his loose tools and said to the boss, I'm quitting and he left. Thursday the young apprentice told me what had gone on and the boss said nothing until this morning. The boss mentioned money and said he was prepared to pay top wages and at that point I laughed at him saying you have never even given me a pay rise in 17 years. He quickly came back with I'd had £60 over that time. I said what good is that over 17 years? He then said nothing. At this time now it seems all the work is falling on me and somewhere along the line this needs regulating as I should not be put into a position that I do two mens jobs. The boss said he is going to start taking extra time off work soon, so even more responsibility on me. Does not seem fair to me.
