The spring was scraping round in the top pan and worn a hole. I couldn't find a rfr. Rfrs for excessive wear etc. but nothing for seized. Anyone have an answer for this please?

On the turning plates...

Turn the steering from lock to lock and observe the operation of the steering gear.

If power steering is fitted, the engine must be running whilst turning the steering during these checks.

Excessive roughness in operation of steering

Stick a manual note in the rFr advising the seized bearing.

You can't "unbreak" the broken,you can only break the unbroken to break the break of the unbroken, for me, you cannot unbreak me, for I am already broken,so you have no need to break the break because I am not unbroken.
