System won't let me sign out

In fairness to DVSA the MTS system has been very reliable and when this occurs we forget what to do in emergency. Today I was presenteed with a CT code and logged on at the time, my worry was that the customer had left the station and his car was still logged on even though I'd issued a CT document. When the system came back online, I was unsure which way round to enter the data, should I enter CT first and then cancel the original test, or should I cancel the test and then enter the CT results?

Being very unsure and the car having been long gone, I decided to enter the original test result which then recorded a pass on the system, although two hours later. Clearer instructions would be better but that is not necessarily going to happen?

Well its the next day and the system won't sign me out of the car I've just logged in! It just stays on the home page! We do use Google Chrome!Seems a problem has accrued when the system went down.

Vehicle logged on for test then MTS goes down with vehicle stuck on the system,if the MTS comes back on it can be printed off same day,if it’s next day cancel the test .
My way is to cancel the test even if the MTS system does come back on after the test is finished,it just saves confusion in my opinion

VTS Test Log
When the SM considers that all CT tests have been recorded onto MOT central records (Catch Up) SMs must view or print off the VTS Test Log. This will enable the SM to check and ensure all tests carried out under CT conditions have been recorded onto MOT Testing Service.

Even though it’s optional I print them off and file it shows I’ve done it .
It’s a good point brought up by though.

Just shows what can be learned by using/reading the Testing Guide. Same can be said for Police Prohibitions, Police VDRS, Demo Tests, Discipline etc. It might make me unpopular with some to say this but I'm afraid I only have a certain amount of sympathy for some who are struggling with this years exam after having 12 months to do some revision 😶

Something I'd never thought of or about until the AE mentioned it the other day. We used to go on a 5 year refresher training course and sit an end assessment, that is 1 assessment every 5 years, now we are doing 5 examination assessments per five years. Nobody else in any other sector of the motor trade legally has to sit and pass an exam every year to keep their job. This is not including the costs for actual materials or course fees. I'm thinking if the trade pulled their finger out this could be stopped. DVSA are an agency in government, not the actual government, and the truth is the AE's have never had a Test Fee Increase for over 10 years, testers have had pay cuts and no rises or living allowances, and the latest ideas coming from DVSA seem to be doing station timing cycles with a view to reducing the mot test fee being charged, in other words capping the maximum fee at a new lower test fee! 

Would be interesting to read members views on this!

It's all about money 💰keeping the costs  down to them in the garage trade to us  its only the test lane s that work on behalf of the government

I once worked at a garage back in the eighties where the job cards were not numbered, if one of the lads did a service on their mates car and then lost the job card the invoice never got done because the secretary only made the bills out for the job cards she was given.

yup unless like us you do free retests that have no bleeding invoice....
