Bodycams for DVSA enforcement staff

Is it for their protection or to record garage standard's, to support any enforcement action and or the face's of those in the workplace .. does the recording get deleted after a succesful visit ? Just asking !!!

but we cant use cctv to record tests or prove we did nowt wrong?......

be interesting to see some actual figures on what sort of assault etc,going "for fooks sake"versus a smack in the mouth for instance.up 25% to 25 for the year?mot stations?accidents?roadside prohibitions?or is it the same as us,a random punter calling you every **** under the sun cos their pos is scrap?

ive been spat at,punched,had a punter try and run me over amongst other things and thats ignoring all the verbal crap(which not speaking lithuanian doesnt really bother me anyway)so i cud probably get close to dvsas annual tally of 25 on my own.i feel for your poor mate tho.unfortunately crooks and drugs go together like crooks and bent tickets.....

I only had one customer get in my face and he fainted and fell through the office door into reception, seems he banged his face on the way through judging by the red mark.
I had customers in reception who saw him fall backwards through the doorway, what they didn't see was what caused him to lose conciseness and what he banged his face on 

Had my share of threats when the commercial garage I worked at worked on a local transport firm's buses, and I had to MOT their staff's private cars. I did breathe a sigh of relief when that contract ended.

Times change, personally don't see a problem if a DVSA visit is going south & its not fair get your cellular phone out & record whats happening.

Maybe its a she, whatever, as said things change.

Like it or not, bodycams are already an accepted tool, being used by door security staff, bailiffs etc as well as the police. Yes I've faced verbal abuse & other implied threats along with some of my former colleagues but it was hard to take matters any further, a case of your word versus my word. But it cuts both ways, enforcement staff will need to be aware that their own actions are being recorded, along with the actions of the people they are dealing with in any given situation. Besides the Data Protection Act, there is also RIPA (Regulation of Investigatoy Powers Act) legislation which govern how & when any footage can be used. Like any other gov department DVSA will be bound by the same legislation. To be honest there were times as a VE where I would have welcomed the use of one.
