Why? Very few charge the current full price any way.

Fairly sure there was a press article last year stating the new Minister ruled against a fee increase due to the number of sites discounting the full fee.

what?so they can bankrupt the independents(particularly the non repair ones)cos that would only leave the nationals which means they could charge/control/do as they please.and that would be against all the free market competion rules now wouldn't it children....what do you think?

Let’s not go down this route again, there is no correlation between test fee and standard of test. There are plenty of expensive independents, and main dealers, that are under par with their testing standards.

Why?

At VE's visit, he asks (or at least used to) if you discounted your test fee. Over a certain per-cent, earned you increased risk rating. I used to know what the minimum was and posted it on the forum some time back.

I get the feeling that many in the trade could actually charge 'full-fee' and relatively few customers would actually notice. I never charged less and only, over many years had just a couple of queries. My punch line was something along the lines of "Just be wary of discounting, we strive to 'pass' your car, where discounting may be a sprat to catch a mackerel?

Stick your labour rate up £2.00/hr, see what happens; Nothing i'll bet.

I’m pretty sure they’ve stopped that type of site review since risk scoring etc was introduced. I used to have the excel based calculator which had the scoring alongside.

Retail is 40 if I have to put a head light bulb in and a number plate bulb in its 50 Im not gonna be charging vat on something when you keep customers with good will
