I have never seen a set of rollers that will run without the centre bar pushed down . Yes they may give a little kick if you press the start button , but they will not spin continually .

Why would anyone put their hand in the rollers without making sure there was no power running to them ?

A VE once gave me advice about testing coil springs by getting my fingers in and feeling bits I couldn't see . He told me a spring will snap when it s ready to snap . It could go when your fingers are in there . Don't ever put your fingers in anywhere you wouldn't put a more valuable member of your anatomy . Totally opposite to the advice my dad gave me in a birds and bees talk .

The evidence tells me that he is unqualified to service/maintain rollers so he must have been digging leaves out of them or something, but common sense did not prevail there. If he was an employee I guess the AE/DM will get a good talking to from people like H&S?

He'll loose it I recon anyway because he can't do mot testing now with that sort of personal injury.

seen the current one for the kwik fit bonnet popping?i had this happen a few times,last one was a few years back when one of our guys hadn't shut the bonnet-not his fault,the job wasn't finished but the manager decided it was all done and handed it to me for roadtest/retest and the safety catch was seized(you know,the secondary catch that we aint allowed to fail?yeah,that one.)it went straight up at 30 mph,managed to stop without crashing which as any one out there whos had it knows aint the easiest mission.since this guy made 70mph ive gotta guess it was at least partially shut and then popped + a seized safety cos otherwise it would have just rattled around till he noticed.perhaps the secondary catch shud be a fail like we all(including the ministry judging by their clio seized safety vsi)thought it was when it first came in?

Like castrolrob I've always wondered about them putting a note on VSI about Clio safety catches when we can't fail them anyway. And apart from Clio's there's plenty of others out there that can/will stick. But, to be honest, I think that even if they're working there are quite a few safety's out there that wouldn't hold a popped bonnet with 70mph's worth of air pressure going under it!
