Brakes

 There is a sanction for not checking sponginess but after you’ve checked it and found it how do you currently deal with and report it as a major defect what do you use ?

You won’t be sanctioned as you call it ,you check the operation of the brakes according to the manual .
You still have a free text box ,use that
If the sponginess is so bad in your opinion,I’m sure if there’s a serious problem it will show up somewhere else during the test.
All EV have sponginess on brakes and sponginess dosent always indicate a fault on the braking system

I probably contributed to the problem with the manual and spongy/springy brakes. I once had a Ford presented for test and it was a VE, and I past it. He pulled his face and then after discussion must have realized why I past it. Sometimes there is a fine line between what feels spongy and what feels springy, therefore just past and advise it when doubt occurs. 

nuffin new,remember pump pedal and watch for master level dropping/brake hoses bulging(amongst a few others)?if you didnt do it you got done then opt came out and you couldnt.....test the aims with someone in the drivers seat ditto and then they released that training video where theyd forgot to do it and all of a sudden an empty seat was fine for everyone(no link obviously!)plenty of em and probably always will be.is it asking too much for someone to just hold their hands up and say whoops sorry we were wrong?

I am finding that it is easier to identify the problem on a car than it is to locate the specific reason for rejection on the MTS system, any chance you can help this fella out ?

The old manual was much better regarding the issue,but now !!
If the pedal don’t hit the floor then only option is to issue an advisory,your job is done then ,it’s the presenter s job now to do something about it not yours ht ,
All you can do is enforce with what’s on the MTS ,if a rfr is not there then that’s down to the dvsa ,they are not bothered if you don’t like it or can’t sleep at night!!

I spent two years repeatedly sending DVSA emails highlighting safety related omissions, grammar and spelling mistakes and gave up in the end.
I can only assume it is because they cannot be bothered or are too fcuking stupid to know what I am on about ... or both.

Creep is a brake fluid leaking internally or externally, spongy is air in the brake fluid system, travel on starting engine is servo boost, what is springy and a fine line between what feels spongy and what feels springy?

Stand to be corrected; DIRECTIVE 2014/45/EU OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL had Flexible brake hoses & various rfr which we mistakenly omitted in our 2018 changes to the mot, but latter was included due to the efforts of this forum.

I suggest that line from the MOT testing guide is deleted or make it 'Minor' creep/sponginess detected.
