Diesel emissions limits

Would I get an answer if I ring the help line about can you fail a pre 08 diesel on plate limits with out a fail for it results section unlike for after 08 and I keep reading you can not use any smoke level for cars after 08 which is not on the chassis stick/plate.

a lotta the separate plates im seeing don't have emissions on em,just type approval/eu no or similar,the ministry HAVE to start supplying plated limits at log in for this to be enforceable,refer to my earlier posts on this subject

I've noticed this too. They all have them (an emission limit sticker), if not on the VIN Plate it'll be somewhere else like on the Peugeot pic above Paul supplied.

Finding them can be impossible

We're only asked to use the manufactures plate not the VIN plate.

The ‘plate value’ is the emission limit specified by the vehicle manufacturer. You can find it on the vehicle manufacturer’s plate.

It will be a number (usually in a box) and often at the bottom-right corner of the plate.

I should have written VIN plate and/or manufacturers plate. I still won't be using any stickers as a reference.

How on earth did we get put in this position? Did DVSA honestly give no thought to this one?
But, maybe I've been blessed but last week had my first "plate limit" failure. A 2007 Octavia 1.9 TDI with (on the VIN plate!) a limit of 1.0. Tested it and got 1.69, which on the old default limit of 3 would have been a perfectly decent pass. So, rightly or wrongly as you please, I failed it as "exhaust emissions exceed level of of metered smoke for a turbo charged engine (8.2.2.2(b)" because it did fail on the limit I was testing it to.
One can of injector cleaner and a 10 mile rather spirited run and, on retest, I got 0.96! Result and a pass.
But, being honest, if anyone tested that again in a couple of weeks time what are the odds of it still coming out as below 1.0? Let alone in 12 months time.
So what is the point? All they've done is made something which was perfectly acceptable three weeks ago unacceptable now. And got me a customer who says "But you said the emissions were good last year" with the implication that this year I'm trying to rip her off. Which I would never do, and if I did it wouldn't be for a can of injector cleaner!
I would give absolutely zero f###s if I never saw another diesel for test.

I am totally lost on what we are looking for to get the limits from and after 20 plus years of testing where do we or I get the answers. The Blog is a total waste of time with 358 reply about 345 must be trashing the whole new mot. The idea of the blog I thought was to give answers.
