Rotten brake pipe

That Astra was most likely a fail a long time ago (years) and it does look dangerous. a bit of paint or underseal and it should be as good as new,(lol)

had 2 Monday,both leaking,both ones i advised as borderline last year plus an astra identical to yours where the muppet who had fitted the replacement hadn't grasped that its supposed to be fitted behind the fuel lines for a reason,that reason being to stop the rollbar beating the sh1te out of it....must see that one a few times a week.the astra/zafira ones used to be so common that I keep an old one ready to copy to make em up without the hassle of getting the old one off in 1 piece.

definitely been missed on mot tests or service if it ever had a proper one.

Quiet possible to go from Pass or P&A to that condition in 12 months in my opinion.

I'm up north and near the coast. Leave it parked in some areas of Middlesbrough (know locally as Smoggie) & it would rot in a month !

One has to remember to read the information column before the method of inspection, then try to apply a reason for failure. The manual guidelines don't look at the surface area of the pipe, the human eye only sees the surface area, and that is not be tested.  

Advisories on brake line corrosion should be included on paperwork and MOT history but It does get a bit tedious when that banger comes through your door every 12 months and nothing has changed from the year before , only possibly another 8 or 9 advisories on other components that are adding to your list of deteriorated but not quite yet a fail.
It can take about 15-20 mins to sit at a computer entering results after you've taken up your allocated hour for that test examining and noting all the defects on one of these piles of crap.
I sometimes feel like , I told you last year about all these issues and there's not enough time to tell you again as it's just not worth upsetting the next presenter who wants his hours worth for not enough money.
I have stopped adding the location points for brake line corrosion issues where there are several different areas of concern and instead put a manual advisory that states" advanced corrosion present on brake lines "
I'm getting paid to do an MOT test Pass or Fail not provide a structural engineering report on something next to scrap.

Info, MoI and RfR for corroded brake pipes is more than clear Dynamo. Doesn't take a genius to know an excessively corroded brake pipe from a good brake pipe now does it....
