Failed second time on park brake.

I recently had some monkey with a sh1t tip of a capri,which I had heard he was advertising for 6k as a barn find !!,needed 50k and 5 years to put it right,proper nail ! "alo mate I've done the welding + failures it's all done", hmm righto why's the steering wheel loose? ,the front wheel binds so bad it barely turns,no handbrake or rear brake effort etc etc,best thing was ,it was past the 10 days = full test ,i cant stand kidders,dont insult my intelligence matey,if he'd said "I think its all done" fair enough,give it large ,no no , so I take the failure with 2nd sheet of advises to him,tell him it needs more love to pass,go thru the list,bloke standing by him smiles,found out later he was buying it,so he found out just what the car was like,hope he didn't buy it or gave a lot less than 6k ! gallon of petrol + match was the best plan with that craper

to rob,sounds like all the so called avo mexicos mate,wish I had a mk1 3L gxl tho' allways liked them

That could work both ways, looking at it from my view now...

DVSA when interviewing people for positions in their agency have panel interviews by very experienced professional trained people yes, so what not use an interview like that when people approach DVSA for setting up and running a Test Station, then characters of people can be assessed before DVSA let people loose running Test Stations.

Take a second example, real experience from DVSA over the years...

It was once said by a senior person in DVSA at a council meeting when asked that DVSA could not check qualifications of people who applied to become testers, then miraculously Matters of Testing published their findings regarding statistics about how many fraudulent qualifications had been presented from people trying to get into jobs with Testing scheme as testers.  

Sometimes I just don't know what or who to believe.   

Had the same with a chap who lives a few doors away from our garage , his hand brake was doing nothing at all , suggested that he took drums off to see what's going on inside them and repair as necessary , off the chap went and to my amazement 10 mins later he was back , saying all sorted can I have my pass certificate now , I logged it on and guess what hand brake still useless , explained that still not working at all , the chap says well you can pass it tho for me as i never park on hills so don't need it !! Sorry it doesn't work like that , if it doesn't meet the requirements it doesn't pass and you now have to pay for a full retest when you return with the vehicle as it's failed the retest , he never came back and walks past garage most days but doesn't even look at me now yet alone speak to me anymore ,

The worst customers for this are the ones who drive automatics, every one has the same saying, 'I don't use the park brake, I put the transmission in park instead'.

Interestingly I brought this up a number of years back on another forum, electricians 'general conversation section of forum', as clever as they thought they were, they all agreed that they could put the vehicle into park while driving along the road to stop the vehicle.  

Just goes to show that people will say/do anything to get round repairing vehicles, even serious defects like brakes.

The vast majority of people that bring vehicles for testing are grateful to be made aware of any problems with their vehicle . However ...As part of the initial tester training it would be helpful if all new testers were taught how to tell problem presenters to F**k off without actually swearing and be polite while doing so .
