A good idea but it relies on people using e-mails. Personally I don't use the email system for anything and wouldn't know how to start when sending one. Yes I have an email address, but with so many scams, hijackers, key loggers, trojans and data aquisition programs being active as soon as you open an email I like many others I know will opt out. Within 6 months of this being launched there'll be a plethora of complaints about fake emails like there already are from many .GOV organisations. Bring back the tax disc then all vehicle owners/drivers have some indication in front of them every time they drive.

well its a start,odd that they couldn't give us figures for expired mot/tax before but now know that"up to 28%"of motors are driving round with no ticket now tho.if I was of a conspiracy theory type frame of mind I would almost think that the two events could be linked.....I really must do summat about this negative attitude of mine.

Surely 'up to 28% of registered vehicles without a SORN' would be a more accurate statement.

I've had the techies here monthly almost over the last year working and copying my reminder system for SMS reminders. As hinted at in the piece baz657 linked to, we should see them soon too lonewolf

Figures are based on the data supplied to DVSA Comp 2 via DVLA. The expected first test vehicles compared to annual MOT figures with the scrapped vehicle and SORN data is highly accurate now....

which brings us back to the point debated earlier,i.e.the relevant enforcement authorities don't actually give a sh1te about mot,roadtax+insurance?yes please.have lost track of the first test cars ive seen nearly 4yr old and only coming in cos the tax just ran out.

This is the first stage of changing the penalties related to the relevant offences castrolrob.

If the authority intend to fine or prosecute in future they must remove the most common excuse used which is, "I didn't know it had expired. No one told me!"
