The Department for Transport (DfT) is consulting on proposals to implement an exemption from testing for vehicles over 40-years-old in advance of a law change which is to be made by 2018.

Under current GB and EU law, all vehicles that were manufactured before 1960 are exempted from compulsory annual roadworthiness testing.

The consultation will remain open until November 2, 2016 and you can respond online or via email. If you want your voice heard take a couple of minutes.

Just given my two pence worth to the consultation the way it is presented makes you want to capitulate half way through,Like an old tester i carried on to the end.I may be cynical but i was left thinking do they know what corrosion is

What a farce, I'm penalised on my site assessment because I have an average age of vehicles greatly over the 11 years average yet the stupid buggers think it's okay when they become 56years of age. What dead brain moron conjured that stupid bit of legislation?
