Opinions on tyres

The reply from DVSA explained why the terms ply and cord are used in the RfR, and neither term is being used to describe rubber. Whatever the construction of the tyre, we can recognise the cords, be they steel or nylon, individual or in layers (plies).
It would be good if 'ply' was removed to stop the confusion, or if, since DVSA have now had it brought to their attention that confusion exists they could make a more widespread announcement, like on the matters of testing blog, or the holy grail, a special notice. We can hope.
