Just to be clear to everybody, when news broke of the loss of the original VSI we offered DVSA the chance of utilising our members' knowledge, experience and freely given time to enable us to put together a usable VSI database. Some members may remember that we started to accumulate information for this purpose. We told them that our members are the ones that see things in real time and in the real world and can make changes, alterations and updates almost immediately. We have offered to coordinate the data and put it into a database form that is readable to their (and any other) system.

It ain't gonna happen.

Because we're all in the trade we're not independent like their former database providers were. The same providers that totally it up, got loads wrong and charged them over £100K a year for the privilege.

So next time somebody says they're trying to get through to me I'll tell them exactly where to go and who to call because my head hurts from banging it against a wall.
