Hi just after some advice really, Ill try keep this as short as possible.
Basically the garage I was working at didn't have much prospect for me moving up the ladder so to speak ,
So I Applied at college to further my qualifications, then the garage I was at one of their Mot testers left so put me forward, Passed the NTTA, and then the 3 Day training , My current status is demo test needed. well at this point of got some heavy assignments and exams but due to finish early.
The garage I was at has become busy

and has replaced tester that has left, also the time I get to do practice tests is limited.
It was really to help them out me becoming a NT and I thought it be something good to have under my belt, increaseing future job prosspects thought My plan was to get my qualification and go work in the breakdown industry or something .
so really my question are :-

1 Is there a time limit i need to do this DEMO
2 Does it have to be at at the garage that nominated me still or can I do it at another.

There is an advisory period of 4 weeks between course and demo test but no actual time limit, and yes I've done demos with testers who have moved jobs between course and practical assessment.

Sorry to drag up old post.
My current employer is insisting I can't do the demo until I've done the new training provided by them (halfords)
My status is demo test needed. I didn't think I'd need training by them when I've allready passed.

Dvsa are less than helpful in trying clear this up when I asked do I need to do the new training or do I need to just do a demo.
Their response was "we don't provide the training please follow these links"

You can still try for a demo test as there is no official time limit but as the training was months ago you'd better get a move on. I had a demo two weeks ago and was one of the last to do a 3 day course at Wolverhampton, June I think it was and we were getting a bit worried. I'd say you're on the cusp of losing it.

Like Gaz I would hope a local test station would be good enough to let you "borrow" their facilities, even if you have to pay their trade MOT rate.
But, are Halfords giving you their "extra" training for free? If so why not just take their offer and go ahead with it?

You have an actual date now.

"If you qualified by taking an old DVSA nominated tester training (NTT) course, call your local DVSA area office to book the demonstration test. You must pass the test by 31 December 2016, otherwise you’ll need to start the qualifying process again."

weve got a guy starting tomorrow,been out of testing for 3yrs and the general plan is for me to get him back up to speed prior to his demo test,muppet central have checked with dvsa and its all he needs apparently.time to dig out all those special notices that didn't get put on the new system but that your favourite anal retentive took the trouble to print off hard copies of.....

further to the above the guy was banned for totting up,gets it back in april,how do we stand with getting him thru his demo?i know that if your banned while still testing its ok but what about his demo?he has his licence,do the ministry check if its still suspended or not?if they don't and he passes and tests is it a problem?any one out there got any answers?im thinking stealth.....

I'm sure I remember from somewhere that if a tester is suspended for any period and initially got their licence after passing the NTTA exam (because they couldn't provide certificates) they would have to redo the whole course from scratch as the NTTA is no longer carried out. Like everything else, that could have changed but it's probably better to check on the new guys certificate availability and go from there.

now that the old ntta has ended all trainihg has to be given by training provider you have to take new training do a demo test with them create a testing account when you do your training when you get your pass cert because you have to show this to dvsa ve when you do your demo test at either at a vts centre or training provider premises witch you have to pay for so if halford are offering to pay for go with them you have to request a demo test on your mot testing profile page welcome to the new world

I presume you mean he was banned from driving castrolrob ?

A ban picked up between applying for and sitting the old NTT course meant the candidate was off the course as a valid licence had to be produced.

Usual policy for a qualified tester being banned was that if there was more than one tester on site he (or she) was allowed to carry on testing. DVSA would normally issue a letter to the AE alowing him to continue, with the proviso the the test had to be aborted if it turned out a road test was required, and the test should then be completed by an NT with a licence.

I've never encountered your situation as a VE so the first call is your local DVSA office. They may allow the demo test to go ahead provided the AE accepts the above terms.

If I was to agree with you, that would make us both wrong !

The VE may well ask to check his licence at the demo test. Phone your local DVSA office rob.
