MOT annual training update

There is up to 12 months to learn it before the exam isn't there? If so what is the big problem of passing it? 

I suppose that will be for the AE's to worry about. 

Because your the legal employer of the NT, DVSA authorised you the AE to delegate to the NT's, and I'm sure employment law/contract etc would say its your business and your responsibility, I might be wrong I don't know but would seem to me to be unfair to expect employees working for an employer to pay their own training course costs, it's never happened before like when I worked for Vauxhall and they sent me on courses, I got paid for going, not paid for the course and then had to go. You decide what you want to pay your testers and if that were a low hourly rate, then yes if you insult them by then saying they will have to pay their own training costs as well, then yes you may find they might leave you.



If you have a problem with your staff leaving your business then I would think that you might want to look at your employees and ask yourself how do you value them!



My AE knows how trustworthy I am, never have any time off sick, don't even take my full holiday entitlement every year, if problems arise in the scheme with computers etc, the AE knows he can leave me to resolve the problems, mot documentation can all be sorted by me, DVSA never waist any unnecessary time keeping tags on our VTS like they do at his other VTS, so he knows he can trust his staff, but insults us by pay cuts and no pay rises in 10 years, so yes I would agree you AE's do have a worry on your hands about NT's getting up and leaving, but if they do there is always a valid reason why that occurs.

Just a thought.The assessment is compulsory and will have to be paid for by someone. An AE needs NTs to do testing, and NTs need AEs to have somewhere to test, so why not share the cost 50/50.

One thing I am interested in - Did the training providers have to tender to dvsa so they could then offer these assessment/training courses?

I recall back in the day that there was information trickling through from dvsa that training would be done through comp2.

A friend of mine has just had to do his CPC for his HGV license and his companies attitude appears to be very fair. The company will pay all costs for employees to gain the CPC but if the employee then leaves they will have to pay back the appropriate portion that currency will last.

e.g on a 3 year renewal if you left after 2 years you would pay back the remaining one third of the costs involved.

you have to get staff to sign a legal paper to say they will pay the costs for etc if they leave before a certain time i had one tester how phone me the next day after his practical to say he was leaveing and would not be back i was out 3 days wages plus expensences for this traveling etc sent his wife in for his wages on friday we will all have to legal up ourselfs in the right
