Official guidance on Inspecting bonnet catches..............

Funny old game. I originally said they shouldn't be tested, then asked dvsa via an email who said they should be tested, and then they release a blog saying they shouldn't.

When the official VSI makes a special point about secondary catches, as it does with later Clios, is there any wonder why there has been confusion.

The problem is that at the moment the Matters of Testing blog will only be seen by less than 5% of testers, at least until the new system comes in where there will then be links to latest news items. They need to get this out as a special notice but they're hoping that with the lead time required most VTS's will already be off the ATOS steam driven machinery before it could be sent out.

Yet on 9th March on the same Matters of Testing blog they told us to do fewer advisories! Which one is it?

Go and look at the original thread, it went on for pages with you telling everyone they where wrong and it was a testable item.

In all fairness David was on the side that spent quite a lot of time explaining the safety catch WAS NOT testable .

It was me @excessive that was on the side of failing them as I'd had a similar reply to you. And to be honest, I'm still in two minds about failing them or not, at least until a special notice or message on the actual system arrives. They've already changed the original wording made in March on the blog in regard to advisories following comments. Who knows... they may backtrack on this one. It's been known to happen.

Matters of Testing is as official as it gets pete. It actually says "Official advice and information about the MOT test" at the top of every page on the site under the official crest.

As far as I know the official word is still to test as to the manual or as directed by special notice David - has that changed and I've not been told? If the manual is still ambiguous and there has been no special notice on this or any other matter then I'm going to carry on as I was.

If and when the blog becomes officially official, and DVSA makes that crystal clear, I'll take what ever is written there as gospel. Until then what's on there is, as each post is here, one persons opinion.
