like what they used to have to do when downplating them you mean?no chance,that was back in the old days when we had regional gvts and ves....

Dual purpose vehicles are class 4 regardless of weight ,providing it has the unladen weight 2040kg limit .

Example.
The dual purpose vehicles unladen weight is 2040kg but its DGW is 3250kg or whatever means its still class 4,

Example
The dual purpose vehicle unladen weight exceeds 2040 kg but its DGW exceeds 3000kg then its class 7

Dual purpose vehicles with an unladen weight of 2040kg but have DGW between 3000kg and 3500kg being class 7 is a myth.

In my experience the majority of "dual purpose " vehicles built by manufactures on the market are not really a problem its the ,what shall we call it d.i.y ones and the ones that the presenters add components ( truck tops) which (alters the unladen weight limit ) on to the vehicles that can cause problems.
In order for me to apply the correct test the only solution is for the presenter to supply weight ticket in some cases

I think the message your discussing was a internal e-mail within Nissan UK
It's content was to inform thair testers that some Navaras exceed the unladen weight threshold and will not fall into class 4 mot test ,some test stations received 500 points for testing out of class

if I have major doubts I just log em as class 7

just spoke to helpdesk and was told all dual purpose vehicles class 4 even if my brake rollers give me a weight of over 2040kg.

It will be a 4wd so class 4. Just asked DVSA about plate weights the other day. I was told...

For class 4/7 purposes if its just over the 3ton limit and you've got ATL (which we have) weigh it. If it's well under the 3ton test it as a class 4

Is your brake tester not testing the kerbweight?

Doesn't the ULW refer to a vehicle not having oils, fuel, loose tools etc in the vehicle?

New vivaro van. Are we going to test this as a class 4 or 7?

Part living accommodation & part load space puts it in the category of a "living van". Class 4 up to 3000 kg GVW, 3001 to 3500 kg is class 7. Over 3500 is HGV.

It's the same vehicle as a Vivaro !!
What ever make it is it's still class 7
