When the plans get through the EU we will be notified by VOSA to check for a Fog lamp fitted to each side of a vehicle from a predetermined new date to be tested, this will I assume start from a date where all vehicle manufacturers have fitted two rear fog lamps as standard.

Interestingly Audi, Fiat and some others have been fitting both left hand and right hand side rear Fog Lamps since the early 90's if not even sooner.

We won't be testing kick up or for the horizontal line.
Any beam tester will be able to test the new criteria,
I thought the present test on aim was simple,wait till you see the new test ,don't anyone go out and buy any fancy equipment till then.

That'll be my fault chaps. I record all the headlamp aims I do as PRS, even though we don't charge. If DVSA are hellbent on dropping the fail rate that's an easy one.

However, with lights getting more powerful, shouldn't the test get stricter, not easier?

It certainly should, but because the headlamp aim has the highest error rate on appeals and observed testing, we obviously don't understand something that complicated, so it's going to be dumbed down so we poor testers can cope.

The limits will just be wider possibly on the new standard when it comes in

At the seminar where I was first told about the changes, they did say you would not need to replace your equipment, as the new test could still use the markings there. So for those of us who do free adjustments anyway, there will really be no need to drop standards. Carrying on the way you do now won't contravene the new regs, just remember some of the vehicles may not need a PRS as they would not fail the new test.

There has been a holdup caused by questions asked by the Department for Transport and these are in the process of being addressed.

It should baz657 correct. More data was required which was done by Council members including myself.

Original plan may have changed as a result. But based on what I know it should be a very simple check to carry out....
