As everyone agrees these above are not appropriate for brake pressure lines. I've seen these types of joints fitted to brake lines over the years and when VOSA first highlighted the problem in Matters of Testing I did some research about the fittings, (I've never seen one fitted and leaking) and to add further confusion about them I found (bought one) that the external appearance looks exactly the same as the flared version and during an mot the tester would never know the differences (unless it was leaking).
