Following an update to the MOT computer system, you are currently unable to remove manual advisory defects.

When testing a vehicle, do not enter manual advisories onto the MOT testing service system. You should advise the presenters by other means of the advisories.

For vehicles presented for retest, where the manual advisories have been rectified, you'll need to contact DVSA help desk on 0300 1239000.

They're investigating the problem and they're sorry for any inconvenience caused.

could have been better to know before the half dozen piles of crap ive spent the morning typing out.wouldnt be anything to do with that waste of space update/last nights shutdown could it?so what other means would they prefer?smoke signals?word of mouth maybe?what when some one else gets it for retest next week?ffs

This would have been more help if the Email (to me anyway) wasn't timed at 11.30 by which time I'd already done two tests both with manual advisories on.
Coupled with the fact that I didn't check my Emails until 2.30 anyway because I have other things to do.

I hate the things. All the ones I get are about 30 years old, based on vehicles that were rubbish to start with (like Talbot Express) with owners who won't believe there's anything wrong with them because they've only done 38,000 miles in that 30 years!

Just done a re-test from yesterday which had manual advisories.
Was able to delete as apt. AND add new manual advisory.

All back to normal then?

Must confess tho' when I sent a txt message to 'our man' suggesting an MTS message to all NT's might have been more effective, the silence was so loud I thought that the DVSA were experimenting with the view to finishing the free-text facility.

Silly me!

Could that be because they are really not interested in anything we have to say even though us peasants have done most of the fault finding/proof reading on this abortion of a system.

Any acknowledgement by DVSA for our help/efforts is done begrudgingly and with bad grace.
