Yet another diesel emission query

Since the new regs came into force in May , I have been checking very carefully for the little square & it's figures for manufacturers emission limts . With that ... not a problem , however I have also noticed I input the required figures from the little square & perform the emission test . Sometimes I get a fast pass & the machine is happy to move on & finish test . BUT I notice the fast pass figure exceeds the plate limts . Do I pass the emissions part of the test , because the preprogammed emission testing device has decided it is a pass or do I fail the bloody thing for exceeding the limit plate values . Asked help desk " Er! , need to ring you back on that one " . Stil waiting

Other times the values are accepted & the  limits are exceeded & the print out is a fail , but by the slimmest of margins .

At present , if the magic machine says its passed , that is what I abide by, am I doing wrong
