Fake vehicle parts are on the rise

many years ago  I was a relief manager for a chain of garages,one evening a punter pulled up with a flat tyre,no money,no cards,no aa,fook all,desperate to get the remaining 15 mls home.we didn't even have a scrap tyre we could put on,theyd just been collected,all we could find was an old inner tube that held air,i told the guy concerned his tyre was fooked and the chances were this old tube wouldn't get him much further and to drive at real slow speeds etc etc but we couldn't do owt else for him with no money.as it goes he made it to within a couple of miles of home.i endorsed the diary for that day with the description of events just in case.6 mnths later I was working my notice out when I got a message from head office querying all this,the guy had sued us,won,got a new tyre,recovery costs,expenses etc all of this without so much as a receipt.dunno if it was cos the firm didn't defend it or what but it DID happen.he must have been real pi$$ed when he came to collect the money,i was leaving cos id heard they were going to the wall(which they did a few weeks later)but an important lesson all the same.the wankers CAN sue you just for trying to help without you earning a bean to justify it,have left a few sitting by the side of the road since for just that reason.harsh but safer.consumer protection law hasn't somehow got more lenient since then trust me quite the reverse,have warned my current boss about this sh1t repeatedly but he knows better
